The minister of state for industry David Bahati made revelations at parliament that president Museveni is set to meet and hold talks with his Kenyan counterpart President Ruto over the ban of the importation of Uganda’s powered milk.
However this comes following Nyabushizi Mp William Kanywegye raised a matter of national importance regarding the price of milk.
In response, Hon Bahat informed parliament that they were aware of the situation as milk isn’t the only item affected and that the head of state was aware.
The minister added that even though the government can’t promise a provision of subsidy for farmers, they are considering alternative markets for the country’s milk products.
Meanwhile Kenya has for long banned Uganda’s dairy products from entering its boarders with the latest being the indefinite suspension of milk powder for the sake of protecting its dairy processors.
However Uganda’s first deputy prime minister and minister for East African Community Rebecca Kadaga said Kenya had suspended its ban on importation of the country’s milk products
