Following the recent revelation given by the fifteenth prosecution witness Winfred Nakatudde who acts as Detective Assistant Superintendent of police confessed in a recorded statement as one of the key suspects in the murder of Nagirinya and her driver Kitayimbwa Ronald.
In her statement she told court that Copriyam Kasolo alias Arsenal reveled to her that there was a plan of murdering Nagirinya from fellow inmates at Luzira prison while he was on remand on a another case.
However in addition she further told court that Kasolo told her he had been approached by two fellow inmates who later turned out to be his friends by the names of Yona and Kabango about a ‘
“small jig to be executed.”
“They told me there is a woman who drives a Toyota Spacio white in colour and provided more details about the car and her area if of residence and she moves with a lot of money between Shs 30m -Shs 40m.” Ms Nakatudde stated while reading Kasolo’s statement.
However our media further got information that Upon Kasolo’s release from Luzira prison on July 1 2021 , he tipped one of his co accused Sadat Kateregga with whom they started trailing Nagirinya before before calling upon other henchmen to execute the deal on August 21,2021.
The confession further left many downhearted as Ms Nakatudde also told court that Kasolo informed him that their interest wasn’t to kill the two victims but had been forced to do it in fear of being reported to police since he had already been recognized thus looking for a bushy place to execute the deal along Kayunga Road where bodies were later dumped.
However this comes after court had rejected claims of route by Kasolo accepting his confession saying he had been tortured and forced to admit to the double murder though no substantial evidence did Kasolo adduce of being tortured before or during recording of the said confession said the prosecutor.
The prosecutor further also observed that Kasolo didn’t challenge the content in the statement, the same should be admitted as a prosecution exhibit.
